4 Initiatives, 1 Goal

Candid is a student-led organization committed to making the arts more accessible and empowering for students of all backgrounds. We focus on four primary initiatives that each address a different aspect of artistic visibility, opportunity, and professional as well as personal growth.

The Candid Journal

We publish an online art advocacy publication that showcases student-submitted visual and written works centered around a rotating social justice theme. By inviting students to respond artistically to critical issues—such as mental health, gender equity, or climate change—we provide a platform for creative expression that is both personally meaningful and socially impactful.

The Emerging Artist Series

We produce a short film series that spotlights student artists across all disciplines, exploring each artist’s process, inspirations, and personal journey. By amplifying authentic student stories, we aim to celebrate artistic diversity, foster connection, and inspire other students to see value in their own creative paths.

Artist Development Workshops

We host interactive workshops and speaker events led by professionals across the arts industry, from Emmy award-winning filmmakers to arts educators, advocates, and more. These sessions are designed to demystify creative careers by providing insight, advice, and opportunities, thus bridging the gap between student talent and professional possibility.

Local Events

We hold in-person events such as open mics and art-making sessions, that invite students to express themselves freely, connect with other creatives, and grow artistically in a supportive atmosphere.
